There are more than a handful 1U 48p GE L3 switch models nowadays, that
can even speak BGP. That's what we bought ~2400 ports of anyway. (Why
one would greenfield less than GE in 2011 is beyond me.)

L3 for cust makes your world *A LOT* simpler indeed. The list is very
long.
