The "traceroute issue" is probably just the usual artifact of the crude
hack called "6PE", when transit MPLS routers don't have an IPv6 address
to source the ICMPv6 TTL exceeded packets from.

Some implementation(s) seem to use the IPv6-mapped IPv4 loopback address
to source it from:

 8  cr2.n54ny.ip.att.net (::ffff:12.122.81.110)  97.621 ms  96.913 ms
96.893 ms
 9  cr2.wswdc.ip.att.net (::ffff:12.122.3.38)  96.885 ms  96.867 ms
96.850 ms
10  cr84.wswdc.ip.att.net (::ffff:12.123.10.250)  96.822 ms  96.816 ms
96.798 ms

Unfortunately, at least JUNOS cannot selectively suppress TTL
propagation to MPLS label specifically for 6PE (topology hiding just for
6PE, to avoid the nonresponding transit hops). :-(

Best regards,
Daniel
