IE6 only supports IPv6 connections if the DNS name resolves to an IPv6 address.
IE7 and later support IPv6 literals. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa385325.aspx for more info.

IE6 certainly has IPv6 support, if it's enabled in Windows. (I don't know about IPv6 literal support, but you can certainly make the kame
dance.)
