Works here on Yosemite/OSX:
                <p class="error-message">Safari can’t open the page
“https://[2a02:ed8:4444::8]” because the server where this page is
located isn’t responding.</p>

The bigger question though is why folks need RAW addresses; this magical
DNS thing is amazing, try it.
