Communicate the gateway to the clients

Hi together,

at the moment i am inserting IPv6 in a ISP architecture.

My ISC dhcp server is working fine now.
In IPv4 the Gatway/Router will be communicated via the DHCP OFFER.
For IPv6 I hearded that the router advertise themself by the Router
Advertisement (Type 134) message.

Is that the "standard way"?
Are there any alternatives? If yes which?
Which benefits are on the "ways"? And which risks/problems?
