Well, I suppose the day MPLS (or whatever protocol-
independent forwarding paradigm) can run without any IP 
intelligence but still carry IP traffic, that may become a 
reality :-).

Hold on, didn't we already try that with VLAN-/MAC-based 
forwarding :-)?
