Slightly tongue-in-cheek:

   Obviously, Apple wants its users to fork over money to upgrade
   to 10.6 and potentially to fork over even more money to de-
   commision all PowerPC Apple hardware and replace with shiny
   new stuff, since 10.5 is the last release supporting that
   platform.
